RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Charles A, Lake will lead the Chicago City Council in the Pledge of Allegiance on November 8,2017; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A member of our "greatest generation," Charles A. Lake Sr., 96, is a resident of Bridgeview; and

WHEREAS, The son of a building contractor, Charles A. Lake Sr. was raised in Danville, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Charles A, Lake served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 in the South Pacific; and

WHEREAS, Charles A. Lake Sr. is a recipient of the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal; and

WHEREAS, Charles A, Lake is the husband of the late Mary and raised three children, Mamie, Louise and the late Charles Jr., near 24th Street and Wentworth Avenue; and

 

WHEREAS, After the war, Charles A. Lake Sr. worked as a professional painter; and

 

WHEREAS, Charles A. Lake Sr. is a valued member of VFW Rhine Post 2729; and

WHEREAS, Charles A, Lake volunteered for more than 20 years at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Maywood; and

WHEREAS, The patriotism, sacrifice and dedication of Charles A, Lake serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby express our sincere gratitude to Charles A, Lake on his service to our country during World War II; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Charles A. Lake.
