RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James L. Claus, a widely admired business leader, has announced his retirement as Executive Vice President of the Tishman Hotel Corporation; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his retirement by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Before joining Tishman in 1991, James L. Claus was a Vice President of the Abbey Group Ltd., a Chicago-based hotelier; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus previously held a variety of executive positions with Hilton Hotels Corporation; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus was the General Manager of the Palmer House in Chicago, the Hilton at Walt Disney World Village in Florida and the Portland Hilton in Oregon; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus additionally worked in positions in sales and marketing at the Waldorf Astoria in New York; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus serves as a Trustee on two industry-related health funds and with the International Union Pension Fund; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus holds a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Administration from Iowa State University and a Management Certificate from the University of Southern California; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of James L. Claus serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, James L. Claus is an individual who is exceedingly worthy of our admiration and esteem, now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby congratulate James L. Claus on the occasion of his retirement and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued good health, happiness and prosperity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James L. Claus.
