RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno has been inducted into the Modern Division of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno is a former DePaul University basketball player who has been the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team at his alma mater for 31 seasons; and
WHEREAS, During Doug Bruno's tenure as coach, the Blue Demons have made 22 postseason appearances including 15 consecutive NCAA tournaments; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno's coaching record at DePaul University is 641-326; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno was a member of the coaching staff of the of the U.S. Women's National Team that brought home gold medals from the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno has been inducted into the DePaul Athletics hall of Fame, the Chicagoland Sports hall of Fame and the ICBA Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Doug Bruno is a recipient of the Leonardo Da Vinci Outstanding Achievement in Education Award bestowed by the Sons of Italy; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Doug Bruno serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby congratulate Doug Bruno on receiving this prestigious honor and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success; and
