CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO PALMER SCHOOL TEACHER CYNTHIA LOHSE ON RECEIVING THE MAYFAIR VETERAN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD.
WHEREAS, Cynthia Lohse is the 2017 recipient of the Mayfair Veteran Public Service Award; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this special honor by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia Lohse graduated from Palmer Elementary School in 1991. She attended college at Northeastern Illinois University and in 1999 she returned to John M. Palmer Elementary School, beginning her teaching career at her alma mater. She has always taught 7th and 8th grade math, and does so with a passion like no other; and
WHEREAS, A tremendous talent in the classroom, Cynthia has the ability to encourage a love of mathematics among all of her students. She has lived on the Northwest side for her entire life and is the loving mother of three daughters and wife of fellow Palmer teacher, Rob Gonzalez; and
WHEREAS, Cynthia comes from a long line of Palmer graduates. Her father, Bill Lohse (aka Bill the Mailman) and grandfather (also, Bill) both graduated from Palmer. She has truly dedicated herself to her community and continues to leave a lasting impact on each student she serves; now therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered here this 8th day of November, 2017, do hereby express gratitude for the years of outstanding education Cynthia Lohse has given to the children of John M. Palmer Elementary School and congratulate her on receiving the Mayfair Veteran 2017 Public Service Award; and
