Memorial Resolution for Johnny Lee (Bubba) Ervin
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this chamber learned of the sudden departure of Johnnie Lee (Bubba) Ervin on June 18, 2017; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of his passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie Lee Ervin was born on September 26, 1943, to the late Josephine and Grady Ervin in Mobile, Alabama. Johnnie had a sister, Daisy, and a brother, Jewel; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie was a loving father and husband. He had four sons: Kevin Barnes, Dexter Barnes, Derrick Barnes and Johnnie Ervin; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie was a beloved figure in the community. He was called Pops, Johnnie E. and Mr. E.; and
WHEREAS, He touched the lives of all who knew him through his compassion and love of family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie Lee Ervin leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Kevin Barnes, Dexter Barnes, Derrick Barnes and Johnnie Ervin; sister, Daisy E. Inge, brother, Jewel; grandchildren, Jazmin Williams, Ariane Lockett, Kevin Barnes, Jr., Derrick Barnes and Rhys Barnes, great grandchildren Alijah Barnes, Kyndell Barnes,' Kamyra Marshall, Blake Guest and Kason Barnes, and numerous family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Grady Ervin, and grandchild, Justin Barnes; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Antonio Moore and extend to his family our sincere condolences.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Antonio Moore as a sign of our sympathy.
