RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lorraine R. Buchanan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine R. Buchanan was the loving and devoted wife of the late 10th Ward Alderman John J Buchanan after whom the South Chicago Post Office was named; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine R. Buchanan was the much-adored mother of Patricia and Jack and the grandmother of five to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired member of the community, Lorraine R. Buchanan lived for many years on the South East Side of Chicago where she was a longtime and faithful parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine R. Buchanan was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Illiana American Legion Post #220 and the Lady Lions; and
WHEREAS, Lorraine R. Buchanan later moved in her retirement to Lisle; and
WHEREAS, The goodness, sacrifice and dedication of Lorraine R. Buchanan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Lorraine R. Buchanan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Lorraine R. Buchanan for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
