RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John Crowe has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe was the loving and devoted husband for 59 years of Peggy; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe was the much-adored father of Molly, Kelly, John and Peter and the grandfather of 16 to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe served as the President of the family-operated Transport Service Company which carried chemicals and food products; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe developed the company into one of the largest tanker truck carriers in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of John Crowe, Transport Service Company earned a reputation for quality, customer service and safety; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe ran the trucking firm for more than 50 years and retired at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, John Crowe was also a generous philanthropist and supporter of the arts who faithfully served for 24 years as a Trustee of the Lyric Opera; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John Crowe serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John Crowe to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John Crowe imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate John Crowe for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
