RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Winnetka, Don Steger Harnack was the loving husband for 58 years of Rosemarie, nee Ball; and
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack was the much-adored father of Christopher, Gretchen and Pamela to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born in 1928 in Milwaukee, Don Steger Harnack graduated from the University Wisconsin-Madison and Harvard law School; and
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack served as a Corporal in the United States Army and was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve; and
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack was a partner with the firm of McDermott, Will 85 Emery in Chicago until his retirement after 32 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack was on the commissioning committee for the USS Chicago (SSN 721) and President of the 721 Club; and
WHEREAS, Don Steger Harnack was a member of the Zoning Board and was a Park District attorney for the Village of Winnetka; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Don Steger Harnack Xxx serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Don Steger Harnack to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Don Steger Harnack Xxx imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Don Steger Harnack for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Don Steger Harnack....
