RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz was a widely recognized inventor and the loving husband of Audrey; and
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz was the much-adored father of Sally and the devoted grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz invented the residential microwave oven and held 26 patents of his own at Hotpoint, a division of General Electric, where he worked for nearly four decades; and
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz bravely served his country as a member of the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Edward Lawrence Macoicz repaired radar equipment on ships during the war; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Edward Lawrence Macoicz serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Edward Lawrence Macoicz to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Edward Lawrence Macoicz. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Edward Lawrence Macoicz for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
