RESOLUTION

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Homer Crosby Gary has officially retired from the Chicago Transit Authority following fifty-one years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Homer Crosby Gary, 80, retired as the Chicago Housing Authority's oldest employee; and

WHEREAS, A native of Alabama, Homer Crosby Gary was one of 12 children of a homemaker and a cotton mill worker; and

HEREAS, Homer Crosby Gary attended Alabama State University and served his country as a member of the United States Army before moving to Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Homer Crosby Gary began his long and illustrious career with the Chicago Housing Authority in 1966; and

WHEREAS, For many years, Homer Crosby Gary worked in tenant relations at Cabrini-Green which once had as many as 15,000 residents; and

WHEREAS, After the City's public housing high-rises were demolished, Homer Crosby Gary performed other duties at the agency and helped residents with Section 8 housing vouchers to move into new homes; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Homer Crosby Gary serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of November, 2017, do hereby congratulate Homer Crosby Gary on his retirement from the Chicago Housing Authority and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued good health, happiness and prosperity; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Homer Crosby Gary.
