RESOLUTION




WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown was the loving and devoted husband for 51 years of Patricia; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown was the much-adored father of Leroy and Jeffrey and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A former Green Beret who bravely served his country during the Vietnam War, the Honorable Leroy Brown worked at Sears Tower from 1973 to 2006; and
WHEREAS, During his 33-year tenure, the Honorable Leroy Brown was a familiar presence at 233 South Wacker Drive where he was a security commander; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown narrowly escaped injury from a 1975 bombing of the tower by the FALN, a Puerto Rican nationalist group, that blew out 60 windows of the high-rise; and
WHEREAS, Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Honorable Leroy Brown led an orderly evacuation of the building; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown always showed good humor when his friends played the 1973 Jim Croce song "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" about a 6-foot, 4-inch Chicagoan who was "the baddest man" in town; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Leroy Brown was head usher at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Bolingbrook; and
WHEREAS, Following his retirement, the Honorable Leroy Brown served as Deputy Mayor of Bolingbrook, Village Trustee, Fire and Police Board Commissioner and Safety Coordinator for the Valley View School District; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Leroy Brown serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Leroy Brown to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will neve...
