CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER DARRYL HOLMES ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, On December 7, 2017, Police Officer Darryl Holmes will retire from the Chicago Police Department following twenty-six years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and
WHEREA, Police Officer Darryl Holmes, Star #9455, will retire as a valued member of the 6th District; and
WHEREAS, Dedication to and fulfillment of the motto of the Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect" - exacts a substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on their family members; and
WHEREAS, Throughout a long and distinguished tenure, Officer Darryl Holmes upheld the finest traditions of the law enforcement community and his hard work, commitment and dedication to duty earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the communities he protected; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer Darryl Holmes devoted twenty-one years of his life in public service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Police Officer Darryl Holmes; now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-first day of November, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude for twenty-six years of work in service to the people of the City of Chicago, and express our heartiest wishes on a pleasant retirement to Darryl Holmes; and
