'Whereas , Shortly after midnight on November 29V2017, companies.of the Chicago Fire Department responded to a fire reported at 3804-06 West Montrose Avenue; and ;

 

'   WHEREAS, While Engine Company 124 and Battalion-10 were on -their.way, the fire was spreading so rapidly that the Main Fire Alarm Office issued: a Still and Box Alarm; and

 

WHEREAS, Arriving at the 'scene, firefighters saw fire billowing through the roof of -
the. three-story structure.- Even

apparently trapped by the blaze; and

WHEREAS, Truck 38 and ihe Rapid Intervention-'Team Truck also'arrived and
deployed a 35-fgot ladder to-rescue g victim from the third floor; and- -

. WHERjEAS,'Battalion 10 directed Squad 2 to. conduct a primary search of the .
- second dnd third ;il6prs to look rfor victims.  By this .time, the fire hgd spread into the
landings of both floors; and .'-.:" '

WHEREAS, Engine Company 69;'p^ - alley and used the deck gun to extinguish the fire on .the -fully engulfed porches; and .

 

WHEREAS, As a result of the swift actions by all the fire crews on the scene, everyone in the building was rescued, including three adults and one child who required hospitalization; and

WHEREAS, The firefighters involved in this dramatic rescue deserve our admiration and respect. All of Chicago is proud of our outstanding and brave firefighters for putting their lives on the line every day in incidents such as this one; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby commend the following units of the Chicago Fire Department: Battalion 10, headed by Chief Frank Ruscello, Engine Company 69, Engine Company 124, Truck Company 38, Tower Ladder 23, Squad 2 and Truck Company 13; and
