RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey was a retired New York Congressman and the loving husband of Ilene; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey was the much-adored father of three children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey was a fierce defender of the environment and an advocate for veterans; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey was a longtime member of the House Appropriations Committee; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Maurice Hinchey retired from Congress in 2013 after 20 years on Capitol Hill and 18 years in the New York State Assembly; and
WHEREAS, As the Chair of the Assembly's House Environmental Conservation Committee, the Honorable Maurice Hinchey led hearings into the Love Canal catastrophe; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Maurice Hinchey serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Maurice Hinchey imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Maurice Hinchey for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
