Resolution Honoring Prosser Career Academy for Winning Cooking Up Change Competition

WHEREAS, Students from Prosser Career Academy's Culinary Club traveled to the Bridgeport Art Center on November 16th, 2017 to compete in the 1 llh annual Cooking Up Change Competition; and,

WHERES, Cooking up Change is a hotly contested competition among Chicago Public School student that challenges students to create delicious school lunches within strict health requirements and a price limit of $1.40; and,

WHEREAS, The team from Prosser Career Academy made the 36th Ward proud by winning the citywide competition with their dish of Arroz con Polio Tazon, Zanahorias Rostizadas Relish and Pear Crisp; and,

WHEREAS, Their delicious meal will be served in school cafeterias across Chicago starting in February 2018; and,

WHEREAS, The winners of the competition include Student Chefs, Jose Berber, Itzel Bucio, Jasalyne Garcia, Izaiah Alicea, Naomi Perez, Jerimah Tate and Yesenia Velazquez and their teacher, Chef David Kulasik. They will go on to represent all Chicagoans at a nationwide competition in Washington D.C. in June 2018; and

WHEREAS, The winners will also receive scholarships to attend Kennedy-King College's culinary program and all have very bright futures ahead; and,

WHEREAS, Chef Kulasik has worked with limited resources to make Prosser's Culinary Arts program one of the greatest programs in all of Chicago Public Schools every year; and,

WHEREAS, Chef Kulasik has helped Prosser students earn over $2.5 million in scholarships since
2005;and,
WHEREAS, Student Chefs from Prosser Career Academy will continue to fill all Chicagoans with good food and immense pride far into the future; and,
