RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Norman Gold has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 87; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A longtime member of the Gold Coast, Norman Gold was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband for 55 years of Barbara; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold was the much-adored father of Judy and Robert and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold was the dear brother of Natalie; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold graduated from the University of Michigan and Harvard Law School; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold possessed a wide ranging knowledge of the law and worked as a corporate lawyer for more than 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Known for his "breathtaking speed" at reaching conclusions to complex legal problems, Norman Gold was respected within the profession for his "ability to make the deal happen"; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold was a Managing Partner at the former law firm of Altheimer 85 Gray for more than 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold joined the firm of Perkins Cole in the early 2000s from which he retired three years ago; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold served as a member of the Illinois Finance Authority from 2010 to 2015; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Norman Gold serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Norman Gold to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Norman Gold was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Norman Gold imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
