RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A prominent member of the Polish-American community in Chicago, William M. Stapka was the loving husband of the late Marcella, nee Gienko; and

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka was the much-adored father of Susan, Andrew and Tom and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka was the dear brother of Edward, John, Sophia, Eugene, and the late Walter, Jadwiga, Janina and Stefan; and

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka ably served for 33 years with the City of Chicago and retired as an Assistant Chief Operating Engineer; and

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka was a former Secretary/Treasurer to the late Congressman and 41st Ward Alderman Roman C. Pucinski and to Illinois Appellate Court Justice Aurelia Pucinski; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of William M. Stapka serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared William M. Stapka to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, William M. Stapka was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William M. Stapka imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of March, 2018, do hereby commemorate William M. Stapka for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William M. Stapka.
