Title: Tribute to late Darnell La'Don Simmons, Sr.

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learn of the unfortunate departure of Darnell La'Don Simmons, Sr., on March 18, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The members of the City Council of the City of Chicago have been informed of the passing of Darnell Simmons, Sr., by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Darnell was born on February 11, 1968, to Lucious Williams and Michelle Simmons; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Darnell graduated from Carl Shurz High School in Chicago, Illinois. He then attended Barbara Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was eventually honorably discharged; and
WHEREAS, After his service to the United States, Darnell worked for the City of Chicago Streets and Sanitation Department for over twenty years. He planned on retiring within the next five years; and
WHEREAS, He leaves his legacy: sons, Ryan Simmons and Tyler Simmons; brothers, Danyate Simmons, Tuarean Williams and Isiah Williams; sister, Krystal Williams; sisters-in-law, Kimberly Simmons and Kathy Williams; nieces, Mytesia Corothers, Jacquline Carothers, Toian Corothers, Kayla Deana, Daniella Simmonrs, Kaveona Williams, Kimmie Williams, Tauri Williams and Gabriel Williams; nephews, David Curley, Kendall Halbert, Tyron Powell, Danyale Payne, LeDaniel Simmons, Kevion Williams, Kristopher Williams and Taurean Williams, Jr.; aunts, Debra Wilborn and Thia Simmonrs; uncles, Billy Wilborn and Theodore Simmons; and a host of extended family and friends who he loved so much; and
WHEREAS, He is preceded in death by: parents, Lucious Williams and Michelle Simmons and son, Darnell Simmons, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Darnell "Bay-Bay" Simmons will be remembered for his uplifting spirit and selfless nature. He was a wonderful father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His memory will live on in those who loved him dearly, now, therefore,
