WHEREAS, Chuck Bowers celebrated his 101st Birthday on April 16, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Chuck was born in 1916 when Woodrow Wilson was President, we entered World War I and when the cars of the time were the King Model EE and the Interstate Model T. Van; and
WHEREAS, Chuck has lived in various places, among them Indiana and Niles, Illinois, before moving to Autumn Green at Wright Campus Retirement Home six years ago with his wife, Jean where they currently reside; and
WHEREAS, Chuck is held in very high esteem at Autumn Green, known for his friendliness and always greeting his neighbors with a "Hi, Sweetheart!"; and
WHEREAS, Chuck Bowers is an interesting and respected man, who treats people well and can be counted on as a true friend; and
WHEREAS, Chuck is an electric train enthusiast, enjoys old time country and western music and even has a western belt buckle to match; and
WHEREAS, Chuck enjoys a good Guinness stout or a Beck's beer, a poker game, genuinely getting to know his friends over dinner and Bingo, and sharing stories with his friends; and
WHEREAS, Chuck and his wife Jean have traveled extensively, driving through the United States from one coast to the other, collecting coffee cups, of which he uses one every morning; and
WHEREAS, Chuck is wished continued good health to enjoy with his wife, Jean, and is thanked for his contributions to the community at Autumn Green;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this 23rd day of May 2018, A.D., do hereby express our gratitude and congratulate Chuck Bowers on this momentous milestone.
