RESOLUTION
CELEBRATING THE 90th ANNIVERSARY OF OZINGA
Whereas, Ozinga is celebrating their 90 Anniversary; and
Whereas, The Mayor and City Council have been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and
Whereas, Ozinga is an American-owned, fourth-generation, family-run business that was founded in 1928 by Martin Ozinga Sr. in Evergreen Park, Illinois, and is currently operated by six brothers and their first cousin who all serve as the company's executives; and
Whereas, with its flagship facility located in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood, Ozinga is a strategic building partner offering an assortment of ready mix, sustainable and specialty concrete products for the construction of roads and bridges, homes, commercial and retail structures, schools and places of worship; and
Whereas, Ozinga also offers: Logistics and transportation services through an extensive network of truck, rail, barge and ship terminals; Materials, including gravel, stone, concrete blocks and recycled aggregates; and Energy services for CNG fleet fueling solutions, truck maintenance, repair and parts; and
Whereas, since 2012, the company has doubled in size with now more than 1,500 employees and facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida, including more than 375 employees and 10 facilities in Chicago ; and
Whereas, Ozinga is widely recognized for its red and white striped concrete mixer trucks, which can often be seen at various construction sites across five states ; and
Whereas, Ozinga has provided the building materials that have served as the foundation for Chicago's Skyline and major public infrastructure projects, including renovations of Soldier Field and Wrigley Field as well as the reconstruction of Chicago's Wacker Drive ; and
Whereas, Ozinga's values of service, learning, and entrepreneurship create the framework that allows the company to continually develop its skills, deepen its knowledge and accomplish success with integrity ; and; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of
the City of Chicago gathered here this 23rd of May, 2018, hereby extend our congratulations
on the 90lh Anniversary as a family owned and operated American business.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies be presented to the Ozinga family.
