MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ROBERT S. BECK

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Robert "Bob" Beck at the age of 70 on April 07, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on September 01, 1947, Bob was the devoted husband of Louise (nee Tipre) for 48 years; cherished father of Robert "Bob" Jr. (Jen), Eric (Karen) and Dan (Margaret); loving grandfather of Zack, Asia, Brendan, Emilee, Taylor, Joey, Elyse and Kiera; son of Ralph and Lois Beck; grandson of Lillian Crandall and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bob leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love and

WHEREAS, Bob enjoyed many things in life that included watching his grandchildren participate in school events, swimming in pools on a hot afternoon, hanging out with lifelong friends and spending quality time on any front porch he could find. He spent a good portion of his life watching people go by and being a piece of the passers-by life, no matter how short. Bob was a printer by trade and for the majority of his life his fingers were stained with the ink from the presses he ran. When it came to pick a screen name for his email "dirtyhands" seemed to fit him perfectly. Bob loved to laugh and was a focal point in many of the best stories of his family.

WHEREAS, Bob touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty third day of May, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Robert S. Beck; and
