RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Georgia Bender Fogelson has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 77; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, Georgia Bender Fogelson was a widely admired philanthropist and the loving wife for 35 years of Gerald; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Bender Fogelson was the much-adored mother of Molly, the stepmother of Bruce and Doug and the grandmother of five to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, Georgia Bender Fogelson attended the University of Pittsburgh and moved to Chicago where she ran a highly successful marketing research firm; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Bender Fogelson and her husband split their time between Chicago, LaPorte, Indiana and Rancho Mirage, California; and
WHEREAS, Known for her energy and bright smile, Georgia Bender Fogelson was active with Columbia College and the Young Women's Leadership Charter School in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Bender Fogelson took great pride in supporting the Palm Springs Art Museum in California where she was a member of the Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Georgia Bender Fogelson serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Georgia Bender Fogelson was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Georgia Bender Fogelson imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of May, 2018, do hereby commemorate Georgia Bender Fogelson for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
