RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING THE CREATION OF HONORARY JAMES "JIMMY
TAVOLINO WAY
WHEREAS, Jimmy Tavolino was a beloved Chicagoan who passed away last year and whose life deserves to be commemorated; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Solis, Alderman of the 25th Ward, has apprised this august body of this man's virtue; and
WHEREAS, Jimmy is the son of James and Carmela Tavolino and brother of Anthony Tavolino. The Tavolino family are the proud owners of Pompei Bakery at 1531 West Taylor Street. The Taylor Street neighborhood is where Jimmy attended local schools and where Jimmy's family have been lifelong residents and influential members of their neighborhood foundation; and
WHEREAS, The Tavolino family works hard to maintain their business, contribute to the neighborhood and take care of their family as Jimmy was often sick. Jimmy passed away on September 3, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was often described as kind-hearted, gentle and a friend to many; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of Jimmy Tavolino and his family's significance to the City of Chicago, there will be established James "Jimmy" Tavolino Way on South Carpenter Street from West Vernon Park Place to West Cabrini Street; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby celebrate the memory of Jimmy Tavolino by establishing James "Jimmy" Tavolino Way on South Carpenter Street from West Vernon Park Place to West Cabrini Street.
BE IT RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Jimmy Tavolino as a token of our respect.
