ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Chapter 2-152 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago is hereby amended by adding Section 2-152-175 as follows:

2-152-175 Agreement by appointees to forgo local office.

EachMayoral appointee subject to approval by the City Council, shall pledge in writing, at the time of the appointment, that, for two years after the termination of the appointment, the appointee shall not become a candidate for Mayor of the City of Chicago, Treasurer of the City of Chicago, Clerk of the City of Chicago, or Alderman of the City of Chicago unless the candidacy is to the same elected office to which they initially were appointed.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall apply to Mayoral appointments made after the effective date.

SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective ninety days after passage and publication.
