SUBSTITUTE ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Section 2-8-040 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by adding the language underscored, and by deleting the language struck through, as follows:

2-8-040 Honorary street-name designation.

(b)     A Designation shall be proposed through a stand-alone ordinance introduced into the City Council. The ordinance submission shall state the name of the individual or group intended to be honored and the series of blocks to receive the Designation. The ordinance submission shall be accompanied by a biography of, and the reason(s) for honoring, the individual or group and a map indicating the blocks for the Designation. Any Designation shall cover a minimum maximum of Iwo contiguous blocks and shall be applied to a single street.
