RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, on June 30, 2018, DISH Network removed Univision's Spanish-language networks and stations from its systems and streaming services; and

 

WHEREAS, it has been reported that Univision had offered an extension to ensure that DISH customers continue to receive Univision while the companies work towards a new contract and that DISH declined the extension; and

 

WHEREAS, Univision's programming is critical and highly valued by Chicago's Hispanic community - providing vital, industry-leading news and information to our Latino families; and

 

WHEREAS, in light of current events, this programming is more important than ever and viewers deserve access to the Univision programming that they desire; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fundamentally important to the Hispanic community in Chicago that Univision be restored on DISH.

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that DISH resume good faith negotiations towards a fair and equitable agreement that treats Univision's Spanish-language networks on par with English-language networks; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if DISH is unable to ensure that its Spanish-language customers are receiving the full services to which they have subscribed, DISH release those customers from their contracts without penalty.
