CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO RICH MOSKAL ON HIS RETIREMENT AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE CHICAGO FILM OFFICE


WHEREAS, Rich Moskal, one of the City's most respected employees, is retiring as Director of the Chicago Film Office on November 30, 2018, following nearly 23 years of dedicated public service; and

WHEREAS, Rich Moskal began his career as a college intern in the Illinois Film Office. Following his graduation from Loyola University, Rich freelanced as a location manager for Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, and others. With his combination of government and film experience, Rich was recruited to fill the open position as head of the Chicago Film Office in 1996; and

WHEREAS, For the past two decades, Rich has been a tireless advocate for the city of Chicago and the film industry. His hard work and advocacy contributed to the tremendous growth of the film and television industry in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, While Rich will certainly be missed, his impact on the industry and the city's landscape will be felt for years to come. Among the projects he worked on were movies "The Dark Knight" and "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," as well as television shows, "Empire," "Chicago Fire," "Chicago PD," "Chicago Med," and "The Chi" and upcoming shows "Proven Innocent," and "The Red Line;" and

WHEREAS, A valued leader and mentor at the Chicago Film Office and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Rich recently launched the Independent Film Initiative, a program to support local indie filmmakers and directors, as well as the summer Millennium Park Film Series; and

WHEREAS, Rich's hard work and diligence serve as an inspiration to us all. He has earned the respect of his colleagues, both in government and in the film industry; now, therefore
