RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Gary Del Re has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 69; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Mundelein, the Honorable Gary Del Re was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband for 21 years of the late Sandra; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, the Honorable Gary Del Re served for ten years as Lake County Sheriff and was the founding Commander of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Gary Del Re was a longtime employee of the Buffalo Grove Police Department and reached the rank of commander before his appointment as Sheriff in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Hailed as an "ultimate professional" who always remained soft-spoken even in tense situations, the Honorable Gary Del Re was elected to two four year terms in 1998 and 2002; arid
WHEREAS, The Honorable Gary Del Re always strived to ensure that the Sheriffs Department was properly equipped and had the appropriate level of manpower so as to assist local communities in investigations; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Gary Del Re serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Gary Del Re to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Gary Del Re was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Gary Del Re imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
