ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Section 10-8-271 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is amended by inserting the language underscored, as follows:

10-8-271 Distribution of commercial advertising matter on private property.

(Omitted text is unaffected by this ordinance)

(c) Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be fined not less than $200.00 or more than $1,000.00 for each offense. There shall be a rebuttable presumption that any person, business or entity whose goods, services, or activities are promoted in the commercial advertising matter distributed in violation of this section is a person who distributed it or caused it to be distributed. The Department of Streets and Sanitation and the Department of Police are authorized to take action necessary for the effective enforcement of this section, including the issuance of citations.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be effective upon passage and publication.
