RESOLUTION

 

CM

WHEREAS, Ms. Elisabeth Wittman will retire from the Office of the City Clerk on November 30, 2018, after more than eight years of dedicated service to the people of Chicago. During her time in the Office ofthe City Clerk, Ms. Wittman earned a reputation for being a focused and dedicated team member, setting a great example for others to follow; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this joyous occasion by the Honorable Anna M. Valencia, City Clerk; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Wittman began her service with the Office ofthe City Clerk on April 16, 2010, as an archivist—the first archivist the Office of the City Clerk has had; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Wittman's role as an archivist cannot be understated as she was largely responsible for official record organization, retention, and preservation. She led a massive records project that resulted in the Office ofthe City Clerk's updated Illinois Record Retention schedule; and

 

WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Office of the City Clerk, Ms. Wittman had a long career as an archivist with the Evangelical Lutheran Church; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Wittman is an avid traveler, often setting her sights abroad traveling to several different countries and travels to Indianapolis to visit her great-nephew whom she loves deeply; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Wittman's natural inquisitiveness had led her to explore several historic monuments and places when she travels, always learning; and

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Wittman is a lifelong learner often making regular trips to conferences and seminars to further improve her knowledge and skillset as an archivist to better serve the residents ofthe City of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Ms. Wittman has been a great employee possessing a wealth of knowledge about the Clerk's Office and she will be deeply missed by everyone in the office; now, therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2018, do hereby congratulate Ms. Elisabeth Wittman on her retirement from public service and do hereby extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes in all_o/ her future endeavors; and
