of the Residents of the City of Chicago

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago is the third largest city in the United States.

\WHEREAS, Federal employee and contract&jare residents of the City of Chicago and have a \ lasting impact on the well-being and economic health of the City. According to World Business ^ "Z^> Chicago, the Chicagoland area produces an annual regional gross regional product of over $609 ^ rf) billion.

 

i^WHEREASj Federal employees are going without paychecks, residents of the City of Chicago going without federal services, and the health, safety and well-being of the residents of the City of Chicago are at imminent risk.

 

WHEREAS, The devastating effects of the federal government will have lasting consequences »on the working families, employees, and industries across the City of Chicago and suburban reas.

 

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago has two international airports, O'Hare International Airport land Midway International Airport. According to the City of Chicago's Department of Aviation, at the end of November 2018, O'Hare International saw over 800,000 aircraft operations, and over 76 million passengers. Midway International saw over 240,000 aircraft operations and ov< 20 million passengers as of the end of November 2018.

 

WHEREAS, Air-traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration agents are federal employees tasked with keeping the Nation's air travel safe as a line of defense agains icts of terrorism.
