RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johrison has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A resident of West Chicago, the Honorable Tom Johnson was the loving husband for more than fifty years of Virginia; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson was the much-adored father of Soren, Derek and Kirk to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson was the dear brother of David and Paul; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson graduated from Oak Lawn Community High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a law degree from DePaul University; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson was a widely admired suburban legislator who ably served in the Illinois House from 1993 to 2003 and in the Illinois Senate from 2011 to 2013; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson worked early in his career for the DuPage County State's Attorneys Office before co-founding a private law practice in Wheaton; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson served 14 years as a member of the Illinois Prison Review Board; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Tom Johnson serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Tom Johnson to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tom Johnson was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Tom Johnson imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of January, 2019, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Tom Johnson for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Tom Johnson.
