RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 69; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner was the loving husband of Marilyn; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner was the much-adored father of Anthony and the late Thaddeus, and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner was the dear brother of Judie, Wendolyn and Wayne; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner and his wife served for five years in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific as members of the Peace Corps; and

 

WHEREAS, Upon returning home, the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner enjoyed a long career in public service culminating in his three terms as the Mayor of Aurora; and

 

WHEREAS, During his esteemed tenure, the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner is credited with reducing crime, increasing development and improving the community's quality of life; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner championed the development of the Santori Public Library, construction of Aurora's Police Campus, completion of the Eola Road Interchange and the opening of River Edge Park; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Thomas J. Weisner was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of January, 2019, do hereby commemorate the Honbrable Thomas J. Weisner for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Thomas J. Weisner.
