ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, From time to time firefighting turnout gear used by the City of Chicago become outdated or obsolete and are replaced; and
WHEREAS, Such firefighting turnout gear may nonetheless have useful service left in them, and could be of great use and value to another entity; and
WHEREAS, The City's Fire Department from time to time has in its possession firefighting turnout gear that, while no longer useful to the City, could be of significant use elsewhere; and
WHEREAS, The International Fire Training Force is in need of firefighting turnout gear, including pants and jackets, to be used in the country of Brazil; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. The Commissioner of the Fire Department is hereby authorized to donate 500 sets of obsolete firefighting turnout gear, including pants and jackets, no longer useful to the City of Chicago, as such firefighting turnout gear may become available, to the International Fire Training Force or its designee, free and clear of any liens or encumbrances. The City shall convey said firefighting turnout gear in "as is" condition without any warranties either expressed or implied and expressly excluding any warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
SECTION 2. The Commissioner ofthe Fire Department is hereby authorized to enter into and execute such other documents as may be necessary and proper to implement this donation.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
