MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR RONALD D. HAMPTON

WHEREAS, in his infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Ronald D. Hampton on April 5, 2019 at the age of fifty-four; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman ofthe 9th Ward; and

WHEREAS, born on May 16, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, Ronald D. Hampton was the beloved son of the late Lionel George and the late Gloria Ann Armstrong Hampton. Ron graduated from George Henry Corliss High School in 1982 where he excelled in athletics and academics. He continued his education at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie, Texas and later transferred to the University of Houston receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; and

WHEREAS, Ron began his lifelong journey of entrepreneurship as the CEO/Owner of "The Loan Factory". He was an accomplished businessman who often shared his talents and blessings with others; and

WHEREAS, Ron's greatest treasure was his children, Courtney Paige and Tyson Adam. His life and legacy will be remembered as one that is kind, gentle, patient, driven and compassionate. Ron encouraged everyone to always pursue their goals and live their best life; and

WHEREAS, Ron was an intelligent philanthropist who's humor was unmatched by his advocacy for education and optimism for changing the world. He was an active member of the Voice of Faith Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia under the spiritual guidance of Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr., and an active member of the Men of Faith and ToastMasters International; and

WHEREAS, Ronald B. Hampton leaves to cherish his memories; adored children, Courtney Paige Durgens and Tyson Adam Scott as well as Tahj Scott, who he loved as a daughter; siblings, Trevon Hampton and Telese (Ernest) Newman; his maternal aunts, Lula Barnes (Rueben) and Glenda McNeill (Charles), his paternal aunt, Joan West (Tommy) and uncle Edward Hampton (Annie Ruth); very special friend, Toni Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, favorite cousins and treasured friends, Darrell Sharp, Michael LaNier, Mark Shinn and professional colleagues, to name a few; and

WHEREAS, Ron, a true man of god, will be sorely missed but fondly remembered for his compassion, character, intelligence, great integrity and accomplishments that will live on in all who knew and loved him; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-ninth day of May 2019, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Ronald D. Hampton; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Ronald D. Hampton as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
