MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR TOMMIE LINDSEY, JR.
WHEREAS, in his infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Tommie Lindsey, Jr. on May 7, 2019 at the age of eighty-one; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Anthony A. Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, born on May 11, 1937, in Emerson, Arkansas, Tommie Lindsey, Jr. was the beloved son ofthe late Tom Lee and the late Elcie Lee Jermany Lindsey. Tommie began his education in Arkansas, but later relocated to Chicago. He graduated from DuSable Leadership Academy and continued his education at Olive Harvey College receiving his degree in Business Administration; and
WHEREAS, Tommie was a diligent and dedicated worker throughout his career. He spent forty years with the United States Postal Service and served as Supervisor of Postal Operation for twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, in 1961, Tommie married the love of his life, Gloria Mitchell. It was from their union that two children were born, Andre, who preceded him in death, and Desiree. His life and legacy will be remembered as one that is generous, encouraging, and compassionate. Tommie always strived for perfection, supporter others, and took the utmost pride in his community; and
WHEREAS, Tommie Lindsey, Jr. leaves behind to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Gloria; daughter Desiree Collier (John); sister Darlene Miller (Jesse); sisters in law Emma Lindsey and Elizabeth Montgomery; grandchildren Angelece Ford (Phabian), Quiana Pillow, Cordale Carter; great-grandchildren Andre Pillow, Madison-Marie and Kyndall Ford; and
WHEREAS, Tommie will be sorely missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, talent, integrity and accomplishments that will live on in all who knew and loved him; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-ninth day of May 2019, do hereby extend our most heartfelt condolences to the family of Tommie Lin...
