ORDINANCE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Chapter 4-60 of the Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting a new section 4-60-145, as follows:

4-60-145      Armed security.

 

No licensed establishment shall engage the services of an armed person unless such armed person is a licensed private security contractor or a registered employee of a licensed private security contractor agency pursuant to Article 25 of the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004, 225 ILCS 447/25, et seq. In this section, the term "armed" means wearing, carrying, possessing, or having immediate access to a firearm, or a facsimile of a firearm that may create an impression that the person is armed, while in the performance of a security guard's duties.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication.
