RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Rebekah Scheinfeld is retiring as Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) after five years of dedicated and distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of her departure from CDOT by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, a native Chicagoan, Rebekah Scheinfeld earned a B. A. Degree in Urban Studies from Brown University and an M B A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Juris Doctor from that same institution; and
WHEREAS, with a diverse and wide-ranging background in urban development, public transportation, infrastructure improvement, preservation of open space and real estate, Rebekah Scheinfeld held a number of key positions in the law and public administration; and
WHEREAS, Rebekah Scheinfeld began her career with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation as an Operations Coordinator in 1999, advancing to the post of principal aide to First Deputy Commissioner for Operations and Capital Projects; and ¦
WHEREAS, Rebekah Scheinfeld monitored a $200 million capital program and coordinated inter-agency projects and chaired senior operations management meetings and conducted performance reviews and goal-setting for sixty districts; and
WHEREAS, Rebekah Scheinfeld joined East Lake Management & Development Corporation in 2001 as a Senior Development Manager, managing development of mixed-finance, mixed-income communities including Wabash Crossing in Decatur and East St. Louis, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Rebekah Scheinfeld joined for the firm of Mayer Brown as an Associate in 2008 representing public and private sector clients with their legislative and regulatory matters,. infrastructure and transportation projects; and
WHEREAS, as Chief Planning Officer and Senior Vice President for the Chicago Transit Authority 2011-2014, Rebekah Scheinfeld managed long-term strategic planning for the rail and bus system, including reconstruction and extension of th...
