ORDINANCE

 

 

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago is gradually removing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus from service and are replaced; and

 

WHEREAS, Such Self Contained Breathing Apparatus may nonetheless have useful service left in them, and could be of great use and value to another entity; and

 

WHEREAS, The City's Department of Fire from time to time has in its possession Self Contained Breathing Apparatus that, while no longer useful to the City, could be of significant use elsewhere; and

 

WHEREAS, The International Fire Training Force is in need of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus to be used in the country of Jamaica; now, therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

 

SECTION 1.    The Commissioner of the Fire Department is hereby authorized to donate obsolete Fire Department Self Contained Breathing Apparatus no longer useful to the City of Chicago, as such Self Contained Breathing Apparatus may become available, to the International Fire Training Force or its designee, free and clear of any liens or encumbrances. The City shall convey said self-contained breathing apparatus in "as is" condition without any warranties either expressed or implied, and expressly excluding any warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

 

SECTION 2.    The Commissioner ofthe Fire Department is hereby authorized to enter into and execute such other documents as may be necessary and proper to implement this donation.
