ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, From time to time Turn Out Firefighter gear and equipment used by the City of Chicago become outdated or obsolete and are replaced; and
WHEREAS, Such equipment may nonetheless have useful service left in them, and could be of great use and value to another entity; and
WHEREAS, The City's Fire Department from time to time has in its possession Turn Out Firefighter gear and equipment that, while no longer useful to the City, could be of significant use elsewhere; and
WHEREAS, The International Fire Training Force is in need of Turn Out Firefighter gear and equipment to be used in the country of Ghana; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. The Commissioner of the Fire Department is hereby authorized to donate Turn-out Firefighter gear and equipment as it may become available, to the International Fire Training Force or its designee, free and clear of any liens or encumbrances. The City shall convey said Turn Out Firefighter gear and equipment in "as is" condition without any warranties either expressed or implied, and expressly excluding any warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
SECTION 2. The Commissioner of the Fire Department is hereby authorized to enter into and execute such other documents as may be necessary and proper to implement this donation.
