WHEREAS, Chapter 4-17 of the Municipal Code of Chicago authorizes the establishment of Restricted Residential Zones pursuant to an opt-out process, which requires a petition to trigger an ordinance; and

WHEREAS, The requisite procedural requirements have been met; now, therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

SECTION 1. Pursuant to Sections 4-17-020 and 4-17-040 of the Municipal Code of Chicago ("Code"), the 31st Precinct of the 11th Ward, as described herein, is hereby designated as a Restricted Residential Zone within the meaning of Chapter 4-17 of the Code. All new or additional shared housing units and vacation rentals shall be prohibited within the boundaries of such 31st Precinct, with such boundaries beginning at the intersection of S. Ashland Av. and W. 42nd St., thence east on W. 42nd St. and W. 42nd St. (extended) to S. Loomis St., thence south on S. Loomis St. to W. 42nd PI., thence east on W. 42nd PI. to S. Racine Av., thence north on S. Racine Av. to W. 38th St., thence east on W. 38th St. to S. Morgan St., thence south on S. Morgan St. to W. 39th St., thence east on W. 39th St. to Chicago and Western Indiana RR, thence south on Chicago and Western Indiana RR to S. Stewart Av., thence south on S. Stewart Av. to W. 43rd St., thence west on W. 43rd St. to S. Halsted St., thence south on S. Halsted St. to W. 47th St., thence west on W. 47th St. to S. Racine Av., thence north on S. Racine Av. to W. 45th St., thence west on W. 45th to S. Ashland Av., and thence north on S. Ashland Av. to the place of beginning.

 

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take full force and effect upon its passage and publication, and shall remain in effect for four years following its effective date.
