Resolution

A resolution to call a hearing regarding the E-Scooter Pilot Program

 

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago established an Emerging Business Permit for an e-scooter share pilot program, which was to operate between June 15, 2019, and October 15, 2019 (hereafter "the pilot"); and,

 

WHEREAS, the "City ofChicago Requirements for Scooter Sharing Emerging Business Permit Pilot Program" (hereafter "Requirements") featured 19 Operational Requirements, including Operation within the pilot area; Compliance with laws and rules and the terms of the pilot program; Safety and regulations; and Data Sharing requirements; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection worked closely with Aldermanic offices and e-scooter pilot companies to facilitate public feedback on the pilot and monitor pilot data; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection worked with hospitals and health agencies to collect data on injuries related to the pilot.

 

NOW BE IT RESOLVED, the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection shall appear at a hearing at the Committee on License and Consumer Protection. The hearing shall occur as soon as possible following the completion ofthe pilot and assembling of data.
