RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Mario J Cornelio has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 70 to his eternal reward; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Mario Cornelio is survived by his loving wife Darleen, daughters Maida Cornelio- Sauseda, Paulie Cornelio Lopez, granddaughters Nora Marie Sauseda, Nia Darleen Sauseda, and Maiana Josefine Lopez, grandsons Mario Daniel Lopez and Michael Thomas Lopez, son in laws Ron J Sauseda and Santos I Lopez Jr. Mario is preceded in death by his parents Luis and Mary Cornelio, sister Rebecca (Cornelio) Moreno, brother Domingo Joseph Cornelio, and brother Louis Cornelio; and

WHEREAS, During his time in grade school, Mario met the love of his life, Darleen Tellano whom he later married, Mario and Darleen have been married for nearly 52 years; and

WHEREAS, From 1969 until 1971, Mario was drafted into the US Army to serve in the Vietnam War, Company D, 3D Battalion, 21st Infantry, 196 Infantry Brigade, Mario fought courageously, earning numerous awards and recognition upon discharge; and

WHEREAS, Mario later served on the Honor Guard from the Wilmington VFW Post 5422 who continue to honor deceased military members at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Mario Cornelio to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth of November 2019, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Mario Cornelio and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to the family of Mario Cornelio.
