Chicago City Council Resolution Honoring the Retirement of Detective Alicia Sanchez
WHEREAS, We, Alderman Michelle A. Harris and Alderman Gregory I. Mitchell, on behalf of the residents of the City of Chicago and my fellow colleagues of the Chicago City Council, have informed this august body of the retirement of Detective Alicia Sanchez; and
WHEREAS, Detective Alicia Sanchez is retiring on November 19, 2019 after 28 years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, On the 18th of November 1991, Officer Alicia Sanchez started her career with the Chicago Police Department. Her first assignment after completing the Chicago Police training academy was to be assigned to work in the 5lh Police District- known as the Calumet district. This high crime district included the Roseland and Pullman neighborhoods. She was assigned to work on the midnight shift, so she could continue to raise her two young children; and
WHEREAS, In May of 1996, she transferred to the 12th District-known as the Near West district. She was quickly recognized for her work ethic and professionalism, which led to her being assigned lo the 12thDistrict Tactical Unit. She subsequently worked in this unit which concentrated its focus on gang and narcotic investigations for the next five years. This led to her establishing a reputation as the type of police officer that would be a valuable asset as a member of the CPD Ambassador Program. The ambassador program was designed to recruit the best applicants to apply for a career with the Chicago Police Department; and
WHEREAS, In July of 2002, Officer Sanchez was asked to join Superintendent Terri Hilliard's staff. She quickly became a trusted employee of the Superintendent and was assigned to be his exclusive scheduler. She also continued in this position working under the next Superintendent, Phillip Cline; and
