City Council November 20th, 2019
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Richard Edward Urquhart has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 87 to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Richard only completed 2 years of high school when he decided to start working, he eventually joined the Marines at the age of 19 years of age, he served in the Marines for 3 years and was stationed in the Norfolk Naval Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Proud Marine (SemperFi); and
WHEREAS, Richard met his wife Liduvina "Lilly" (Mercado) Urquhart at the age of 33 on a blind date to a dance, which led to the wedding 2 years later on June 25th, 1966; They welcomed their first-born child William Joseph Urquhart on July 22nd, 1967 (deceased), followed by their daughter Margaret Teresa Urquhart Kishta on April 14th, 1972, followed by a granddaughter Amanda Marie Urquhart on October 11th, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Richard is survived by his wife Liduvina (Mercado) Urquhart, a daughter Margaret Teresa (Belal) Urquhart Kishta and a granddaughter Amanda Marie Urquhart; and
WHEREAS, Richard was a man who always made time to enjoy his family. He loved to draw and enjoyed life to his fullest. He loved spending time with his wife, daughter, grand daughter and son in law. He was a hardworking man who worked factory jobs for the majority of his life; and
WHEREAS, His love of life endeared Richard Edward Urquhart to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth of November 2019, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Richard Edward Urquhart and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
