SUBSTITUTE ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Section 2-8-050 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by deleting the language struck through and by adding the language underscored, as follows:
2-8-050 Aldermanic expense allowance.

(b) Expenditures may be made from aldermanic expense allowance funds for any of the following purposes:

(26) Hosting a paper shredding or electronics recycling event, provided that such event is open to the public. Such expense shall not be considered a gift or donation prohibited under subsection (c) of this section:
(264(27) Payment of miscellaneous, ordinary and necessary expenses incurred in connection with the performance of an alderman's official duties.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall take effect following passage and publication, and shall apply to expenditures made pursuant to section 2-8-050 beginning September 1, 2019.

Your Committee on the Budget and Government Operations which was referred a substitute ordinance, introduced by Alderman Matt O'Shea - 19th Ward, amending Municipal Code Section 2-8-050 to allow use of aldermanic expense allowance funds for hosting of paper shredding or recycling event. (SO2019-9121)
Having the same under advisement, begs leave to report and recommend that Your Honorable Body Pass the proposed substitute ordinance transmitted herewith.
This recommendation was concurred in by a unanimous vote of the members of the committee present with no dissenting votes.
