RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING GLENN H. AND CHRISTINE YOUNG FOR 26 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CHICAGO ALTERNATIVE POLICING STRATEGY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, After more than 26 years of devoted service to the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy program (CAPS), Glenn H. and Christine Young are retiring as Beat Facilitators for Beat 912; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable George A. Cardenas, Alderman of the 12th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Glenn and Christine Young have resided in the McKinley Park neighborhood for nearly 70 years and are active members of their community; and
WHEREAS, As a result ofthe Youngs' extensive efforts, CAPS Beat 912 has hosted the best-attended monthly Beat Meetings in the 9th District; and
WHEREAS, Glenn and Christine Young have been instrumental in bringing special programs to McKinley Park such as Police Roll Calls and Smoke Outs at Hoyne Park; and
WHEREAS, During the Youngs' time as Beat Facilitators, they have assisted in addressing several community issues, including shutting down drug and gang houses, closing public nuisance businesses, and monitoring graffiti and other neighborhood concerns; and
WHEREAS, Alderman George Cardenas holds the Youngs in high esteem and often seeks out their opinion when making decisions affecting the McKinley Park community; and
WHEREAS, The McKinley Park neighborhood is a small Chicago community area that is a welcoming part of Chicago's Southwest Side and is consistently improving due to the work of neighborhood leaders like Glenn and Christine Young; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2020, do hereby congratulate Glenn H. and Christine Young on their retirement as CAPS Beat Facilitators, and wish them great success in their future endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to Glenn H. and Christine Young.
