Resolution Recognizing Jose Luis Gomez-Amaya

WHEREAS, The Members ofthe Chicago City Council and Edgewater community lost a valued community member, on November 13^th, 2020 with the passing of Jose Luis Gomez-Amaya; and

WHEREAS, Jose Gomez-Amaya was the loving husband of Marbella Santana; and

WHEREAS, Jose was the beloved father Mayra (Marcial) Gomez Santana, Luis (Emma) Gomez, Perla Gomez-Herrera, Eduardo Gomez, Aide Romero, and the late Roberto Gomez Santana; and cherished grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Jose was the adored son of Maria (nee Amaya) and Antonio Gomez; and

WHEREAS, Jose was the treasured brother of Mario (Carmen) Gomez-Amaya, Beatrice Garcia, the late Juan (Mimi) Gomez-Amaya, and adored uncle of many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Jose was a dedicated former employee at St. Anthony's Hospital; and

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here on this day of January 15^th, 2020, do hereby honor the memory of Jose Luis Gomez-Amaya and extend our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
