Resolution Commemorating the 100 Birthday of Mrs. Irma Sweet
WHEREAS, Irma Sweet was born on December 12, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Irma attended Stanton High School in Jacksonville, Florida where she proudly graduated as a member of the class of 1938; and
WHEREAS, She completed her nursing training at Brewster Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida and received her nursing degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Sweet embarked on her nursing career at Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and continued her work at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, before finishing her career at Walter Lutheran Hospital Memorial of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Upon her retirement, Mrs. Sweet moved to Senior Suites of Central Station at 1400 South Indiana Avenue, a warm and inviting senior living community located in the 3rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, True to her nursing background, Mrs. Sweet is well known in the community for her caring and compassion; and
WHEREAS, December 12, 2019 marks 100 blessed years on this earth and counting for Mrs. Irma Sweet; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this fifteenth day of January 2020, do hereby congratulate Mrs. Irma Sweet on her 100th Birthday; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Mrs. Irma Sweet.
