RESOLUTION CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS ON CAPITAL PROJECTS
FUNDED BY CHICAGO TAXPAYERS
WHEREAS, construction season 2020 will begin soon with large impacts on Chicagoans in all 50 Wards; and,
WHEREAS, some agencies, departments and companies receive strict oversight, being held accountable to taxpayers and the Elected Officials that represent them; and,
WHEREAS, other agencies, departments and companies have little to no oversight and are able to spend large sums of money with little to. no accountability; and,
WHEREAS, this lack of accountability causes frustration and cost overruns that Chicagoans cannot afford to withstand; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, every one of these departments, including, but not limited to: Chicago Department of Transportation, Department of Water Management, Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District and the Public Building Commission of Chicago; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that these public hearings shall be held, in front of members of the Chicago City Council Committee on Economic, Capital and Technology Development prior to April 15th, 2020; and,
: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairman ofthe Committee works to ensure future capital programs will have increased oversight from the Chicago City Council and Public at Large.
